Mobile eLearning Update

You need to get your Mobile eLearning program up and running now, pronto, lickety-split!!!!

A recent survey of just over 1,600 business technology buyers, conducted by ChangeWave Research, found that 22 percent of respondents were planning to buy tablet computers during the second quarter of 2012. Bottom line…the iPad is not a fad and will have a HUGE effect on how you deliver eLearning in the very near future.

As a Learning and Development professional, you need to be able to deliver Mobile eLearning curriculum to Apple devices. Ideally you will have your Mobile eLearning program implemented before you get the calls, emails, texts, smoke signals from your students asking why they can’t take their eLearning on their iPads.

Stuff you need to know about Mobile eLearning

1. Your Flash based eLearning content won’t play on the iPad or  iPhone

2. Delivering Mobile eLearning content to mobile devices is different. For example, you can’t take an eLearning course on an iPhone as the screen is much smaller.

Don’t Panic! All is well, thanks to the new crop of authoring tools that will publish eLearning content in mutliple formats. These tools allow you to publish your content in Flash (the format that plays on computers) and HTML5 the new format that plays on mobile devices as well as computers). . Other options include screen size outputs that are optimized for iPad and iPhone.

Bottom line, most on line Retail Training  is boring, painful, tedious…well you get the point…The problem is that most organizations look at Retail Training  as a “check the box” function.  Is the employee in compliance?  Yes or No.

If the outcome is simply Yes/No, then there is no incentive to actually teach anything so who cares if the on line Retail Training  Curriculum is crap.

Here’s how it works….

Step 1:  Identify Your Audience

Example:  Retail Sales Staff

Step 2:  Identify Your Desired Result

Example:  Increase revenue in your store

Step 3: Identify the WIIFM (what’s in it for me) factor for your students

Example:  If you take this course, you will increase the amount your receive in sales commission.

Step 4:  Measure the Results

Example:  Waiters who took this on line Retail Training  Course were able to increase their sales by an average of X% and their commissions by an average of Y%.

Don’t over think this!  Were talking 3rd grade math here.  After you achieve your desired results from your training, tell everyone you know (and those you don’t) about the results of your on line Retail Training.
